About Edward J. O'Donnell, Esq.

As a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney and an experienced trial lawyer, Ed is more at home in the courtroom than anywhere else. Ed has been counsel in at least eight reported decisions, several of which gained the attention of the local and national media. He is considered an expert in interstate and international custody disputes.

Several of Ed's more widely known published cases include Matter of Baby M., Matter of Jobes, Kamen v. Egan, Boardman v. Boardman, Maqsudi v. Maqsudi, Lerman v. Lerman, and most recently, J.S. v. L.S. Although Ed is best known for his participation in high profile cases, most of his clients are ordinary people dealing with difficult and sometimes extraordinary issues.

In addition to his trial work and appellate practice, Ed is the President of the Essex County Bar Association, and the Chair of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is the immediate Past President of the Northern New Jersey Family Law Inns of Court.

Ed is a contributing author to the New Jersey Family Law Practice, perhaps the most widely known treatise in New Jersey matrimonial and family law. He is also a frequent lecturer on family law issues for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, speaking on a myriad of topics and issues. Ed has published articles in the Seton Hall University Law Review and the National Law Journal. He has also contributed articles to many of the Institute for Continuing Legal Education's various updates, legal seminar handouts and workbooks.
